June E-Postal Match Results

Update: I missed a couple of entries submitted by Ahab. My excuse is that I was up until 0300 trying to get this done last night. Translated, that means that I got in a hurry, didn’t bother to really READ his post, wasn’t paying enough attention, didn’t scroll down far enough to see them and completely missed them. My bad.. In any case his entries for his Taurus tracker (Class 4) and Walther P22 (Class 2) have been duly added (marked by “*”).

Update 2: LouG had sent in three more entries that I didn’t get. I think they got mixed in with the piles and piles of spam I got this month while I had the filters off. That’s the best excuse I can think of anyway so I’m sticking with it. His new entries are in classes 3 and 5 and, as is quickly becoming traditional, are marked with “*”.

I’m still pretty tired so if anyone sees anything else that I screwed up, please, let me know immediately so I can fix it.

OK…Here goes. The eagerly awaited results from Mr. Completely’s E-Postal handgun match for June: “Reload Drill”.

For those who didn’t participate and just stumbled across this entry, the basic idea was, starting from a “resting” position at waist level to simulate drawing from a holster, take aim and fire two rounds…preferably a “double tap”…into the first target, reload and fire two more into the second target. Then start from the beginning and repeat the cycle four more times for a total of 20 shots.

This was a difficult task and I must say that I’m very impressed with everyone’s shooting. These targets were significantly smaller than a standard silhouette target. Generally in defensive shooting we concentrate on center mass so it could have been completely off the paper on these targets and still count as a center mass hit on a silhouette.

With that in mind, everyone did very well.

I hope everyone got something out of it. A couple of people mentioned that they realized some things that need work…that was part of the point in choosing a “real world” type shooting scenario.

What I realized is that I need to work more on smoothly pulling the trigger during that first, heavy, double action shot. I was jerking the trigger badly and my first target score suffered as a result.

Sight alignment was also an issue. I kept catching myself focusing on the target rather than the front sight.

Anyway, I hope that everyone enjoyed it and learned something from it.

Without further ado. Here are the results.

By the way: Both of the ties in Class One were resolved using Tie Breaker #3. The sum of the lowest scoring single shot on each target.

Update: LouG’s newly entered Class 3 entry created a new tie situation in the Overall standings. Ahab and Sebastian both shot 152’s in Class 1 and LouG shot a 152 in Class 3. The first tie breaker is distance but they all shot at 7 yards. The second tie breaker was the sum of the single highest scoring shot on each target. Sebastian and Ahab both had 2 tens and so remained tied but LouG had a ten and a nine and was thereby delegated to third in that tie. Sebastian and Ahab’s tie was broken by the third tie breaker…the sum of the single lowest scoring shot on each target. Sebastian’s low shots were a three and a six for a sum of nine. Ahab’s low shots were a two and a three for a sum of five so Sebastian has the honors.

Update: Also, Manfred clarified in comments that he shot at 8.5 meters which is a little over 9 yards (9.29571 yards to be exact) so I updated his entries to reflect the correct distance in our “strange measuring system.”
