Proud Father

My son is a Junior at Old Dominion University. He’s a Music Education major. His primary instrument is the flute and he is first chair in the ODU Wind Ensemble.

They had a concert last night that I had the privilege of attending.

Any readers with Navy experience may recognize this piece. It is a verse of the Navy Hymn…otherwise known as “Eternal Father, Strong to Save”

This is just an excerpt of the entire piece, an orchestral composition of the same name as the hymn which was commissioned in honor of the 50th anniversary of the US Navy Band in 1975.

Anyway, the conductor added a little something that I’ve never seen an orchestra do. It sent chills down my spine when they did it. I thought they did an incredible job with it and just wanted to share it.

I apologize for the crappy video quality. Remember when I told you my primary computer died and I’m working with an old, slow, dinosaur? There you go.
