Turkey Day

If I had to choose one holiday as my “favorite” I’d have to say Thanksgiving. Granted, as a Christian, Easter, and to a lesser degree, Christmas, have MUCH more religious significance; and the occasions and people commemorated in our patriotic holidays are worthy and important…but for pure enjoyment of the traditions and practices, I just like the “feel” of Turkey Day: the fellowship, the feasting, the family, the football…the “f” factor.

But I must say that the stated purpose of Thanksgiving is a little lost on me.

Not a day goes by that I do not reflect upon the blessings that God has granted me. From my health, my wealth, my Wife, my job, my skills, my good looks, the very gift of being born an American, etc (I was joking about the good looks).

I don’t need to be told by the Government to give thanks. For me, EVERY day is Thanksgiving. This is just Turkey Day.

With that said, I’m going to be out of town for the weekend so I won’t be posting until probably Monday.

My beautiful bride and I are leaving this afternoon to head to my Mom and Step-father’s farm in Western PA. I’m taking a couple of my rifles so if I get an opportunity to do any shooting, I may post a report on it.

Otherwise, rest assured I’ll be wallowing in trytophan, stuffing and homemade apple pie.

Did I mention how much I like Turkey Day???
