…who are trying to cheer me up.
Clint, especially, made a good point in his comment:
Buck up, little camper. The LORD you espouse in your initial entry is the author of ALL authority, he can use pagans and believers alike in His purpose. To doubt that His hand is not upon history, to doubt the majesty of His Sovereignty, leaves us to be pitied and a people of no hope at all…
By gum, OUR candidate, the guy none of us supported in the Primary, said in his concessionz: Americans never quit. We never surrender. We never hide from history. We make history.
Be looking for a post tomorrow. I am NOT defeated, I am galvanized!!
I don’t feel much like a “little camper”, but that minor quibble aside…There is no doubt in my mind that God is in charge and has a plan.
The illness and death of my father touched a great many people and I’m sure his death served the Lord’s purpose as much as did his life.
But that knowledge didn’t prevent me from grieving at his passing.
I am not defeated. I will never be defeated as long as I have breath in my body.
What I fear is that the American ideal is defeated.
Not by its government…But by its own corrupt people.
“…[N]either the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt.”
Everything that has a beginning, has an end. Our nation was destined to fall from the day a couple of patriots sat down in a bar in Boston and said: “You know what would be great? If we could throw off British rule and just be our own country.” That is just the way of all things human.
“…I agree to this Constitution with all its faults, if they are such; because I think a general Government necessary for us, and there is no form of Government but what may be a blessing to the people if well administered, and believe farther that this is likely to be well administered for a course of years, and can only end in Despotism, as other forms have done before it, when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic Government, being incapable of any other.”
Alexander Tyler arguably spelled out the natural progression of civilizations. Although it may not be a sourced and verifiable scientific theory, it fits history well enough to be considered an adequate rough guide:
He supposedly contended that civilizations progress through various phases from their birth to their death:
– From bondage to spiritual faith
– From spiritual faith to great courage
– From courage to liberty
– From liberty to abundance
– From abundance to selfishness
– From selfishness to complacency
– From complacency to apathy
– From apathy to dependency
– From dependency back again to bondage
I believe that this election heralds the transition from apathy to dependency. That transition is almost complete and the only remaining stage is the return to bondage.
Over half of the population of this country voted for “spreading the wealth” and punishing “the rich” for their success. Over half of the population of this country voted for the candidate of “free” health care and promoting “right thinking” through punitive taxation. Over half of the people of this nation voted for blatant Marxism.
Do you foresee less people espousing those ideals in the future? I don’t. Not with the vast majority of our children being indoctrinated into the Religion of Dependence on Benevolent Government in the public schools every day. I cared enough about my kids to provide a balance and counter-indoctrination, but I’m in the minority. Most parents today have no idea what the schools are teaching and don’t really care…as long as the kids are out of their hair for most of the day. Of the minority who DO care about what their kids are learning in school…more than half of them AGREE with the indoctrination their kids are receiving and reinforce it at home.
Nope. Our society is on the downward hill of the slope and is accelerating rapidly. I simply do not believe we can reverse the momentum.
It is inevitable for no other reason than that the great herds of human sheep in the cities of this nation have no greater desire than to be kept. To be cared for. To be slaves.
We cannot “win” in this battle because we are the anomaly. We are the odd man out. And the freedom of the minority who desire it will be stamped out. Our heresy will not be tolerated.
And, this time, there’s no where else to go.
Does that mean that I quit? That I surrender? No. It means that I grieve. Just as I did when my father died. But I fight on in whatever manner I am capable until the day I die…or am killed.
Because that’s what we do.
