Health Care to Die For

Are you ready to have some bureaucrat in Washington deciding whether that procedure that your doctor is recommending is “necessary” or not?

Last Sunday on “Meet the Press,” Larry Summers, Obama’s chief economic adviser, let the cat out of the bag on health care. In explaining why universal health care wasn’t going to increase the deficit, Summers said that people are just getting too much unnecessary care. Summers claimed: “whether it’s tonsillectomies or hysterectomies . . . procedures are done three times as frequently [in some parts of the country than others] and there’s no benefit in terms of the health of the population. And by doing the right kind of cost-effectiveness, by making the right kinds of investments and protection, some experts that we — estimate that we could take as much as $700 billion a year out of our health care system.”

This is a done deal folks. The Dems have already declared that they are going to invoke a rarely used rule in the Senate to prevent a filibuster.

And it’s a popular measure too. Too many Americans are just too stupid to see the ramifications of this. Too many Americans can’t see past the end of their own noses. We are so screwed as a nation. Even if the Republicans can win back the Congress in 2010, the major damage will have been done. Even if Obama is a one term President (which I think is probable), the worst of the carnage to our liberty will be fait accompli.

And don’t believe for a second that once these socialistic programs are in place that they’ll ever be reversed. These programs give the government more power over our everyday lives. There is no way that EITHER party will willingly give up that power once attained. Besides the already proven fact that, should anyone propose to repeal these types of socialist programs, the statist authoritarians will immediately play the fear card and proclaim how those EEEEVVVVIIIIIILLLLL people are trying to take YOUR health care away.

Sorry to sound so negative, but I’ve been feeling this way since Obama won the election:

We are so screwed.

It’s like having your foot caught in the tracks and watching the train bear down on you. You’re about to get squashed and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it except pray.

Oh…and stock up on guns and ammo; I have a feeling we’re going to be needing them and probably sooner rather than later.

  1. I would love to see more limits to what types of things would be covered by Medicare, or any future form of government healthcare. The only part of it that scares me is that some want to outlaw private healthcare.

People love to hold up places like England as examples of successful government run healthcare, while ignoring the fact that a large number there still have private coverage beyond that to deal with the things the government either won’t do at all, or can’t do in a timely manner.

  2. Yes because having corporate slime-balls deciding what health care you get is better. You need a better idea than No, fool!! Get a clue, you lost the election and you are a looser. Leave my country now.

  3. Wow…I must be making the big time: I’ve attracted a troll.

Not a very good one mind you. Obviously not very bright and not very imaginative with the insults, but hey…I guess you get what you pay for.

    Thanks for the laugh anyway.

  4. Congratulations on the troll. Agreed on it being worth what you paid.. so maybe spend a little more than *nothing* next time, eh?

Then again, are there better ones? This one might be a keeper. Poke it with a stick.. see if it tries to grab hold. Maybe we can have some fun with it.

  5. HA! Trolls. I love it. You serve 21 years in the Navy, yet you’re the one invited to leave “his” country. 🙂 That’s rich.

Anyway, if people don’t understand that U.S. Uncle Sammie will now have the power to dictate how the citizenry live their lives with this new power, then they’re fools.

It isn’t too very hard to imagine that if a person is deemed obese, or smokes, then healthcare benefits will be reduced as an incentive to “mind.” (Or perhaps withheld entirely)

And what if one spends their spare time skydiving, scuba diving, or heaven forbid, playing with those icky gun things?

We can’t have citizens engaging in potentially dangerous activities, now can we?

Or will we still be “citizens?”

Single payer government monopoly on healthcare. Yes, now there’s a recipe for quality.

  6. The irony occurred to me as well, but I didn’t want to give the impression that I think military service is a prerequisite for citizenship…I don’t.

Unfortunately for brave Mr. Anonymous Troll, neither is buying in to anti-capitalist/socialist dogma.

I must respectfully decline his suggestion. If he’d like to try to come force his command to depart on me, I’d be happy to…um…discuss it with him.

Needless to say, I won’t be holding my breath waiting for such a courageous soul to show up at my doorstep.
