Press Conference

Regarding the Police shooting on Monday.

I can be pretty hard on the Police when I don’t feel that they’re living up to their responsibilities and duties. With that in mind, I’d be remiss if I didn’t equally praise where it’s due. I’d like to take this opportunity to join in Chesapeake Police Chief Wright in proclaiming Officer Sean Fleming a hero.

Officer Fleming was off duty, having recently ended his shift, but when he heard the call of his fellow officers in need of assistance, he responded and placed himself in harm’s way. When the sound of gunfire broke out, he ran toward the sound, not away from it. His willingness to lay his life on the line for his fellows is the very definition of heroism and I commend him for his bravery and actions.

  1. Agreed on the hero status. Well done to all officers involved in getting these P.O.S.'s off the street, and let's all say a prayer for Officer Fleming's quick recovery.

You going to Saturday's picnic at Riverview Park?

  2. No, unfortunately I have conflicting responsibilities.

I'll be at the Airfield Shooting club for a work party. We're building picnic tables for the skeet range area.
