Ready to plant

But I’ve gotta tell ya:

I am out.of.shape.

Turning over that little bit of garden only took maybe two and a half hours, but it just about did me in.

Now I need 8 hours of sleep and a bowl of Wheaties.

(100 extra COACOO bonus points to the first person who can identify the origin of that last sentence)

  1. Got it on the first try. Outstanding. I thought that was a vague enough (and old enough) reference that it would be trouble.

Richard Pryor sometime around the late '70's or early '80's in one of his (many) skits about sex.

I can't remember the exact quote (and it was probably much dirtier than I'm willing to post anyway), but it was something like:

"I'm only good for maybe 2 or 3 minutes in the sack…then I need eight hours of sleep.

    And a bowl of Wheaties."

Hilariously funny to a teenager. And I still like the line.

100 bonus COACOO points to darious. You only need another 9,900 to trade them in for…Well…Ok…You can't really trade them in for anything; but congratulations anyway.

  2. LOL.

That does kind of look like flames doesn't it?

The sun was very low and was barely pushing it's way through the trees behind me, creating that interesting light effect.

It's actually pretty cool now that I think about it.

  3. Curtis, evidently darius made a good catch! I'm in the dark on that one, but remember the Pryor line.

Man, I know what you mean. I am 50. In previous years, the "first outing" into yard-work, garden tilling, etc. was no big deal. I'll swear man, this year, the next morning I felt like I had the flu, or something.

I used to be "in shape." Now I'm just "a shape." Sigh…

  4. Yup, round is a shape.

    I guess that means I'm a well-rounded individual huh?

That wouldn't even bother me so much if it weren't for the marshmellow-like consistency.

My dad wasn't a small guy…but he was solid as a rock.

I, on the other hand, after just a few short years in an office job…
