Day One

I’m actually posting this on day two because the hotel we stayed at last night (Days Inn, Jellico TN) was experiencing technical difficulties and their wifi was not working.

I was going to ask for a discount on the room rate since I didn’t get my “free internet” they promised me, but we left too quick this morning…didn’t even check out, just left the keys in the rooms.   Oh well.

Anyway, without further ado:

The Crew

We look really tall because I had my camera on a mini tripod on the ground and used the timer so I could be in the shot.

L-R, Brother Kevin, his wife Melissa, Aunt Mary, Uncle Ron, Cousin Keith, His wife Susan and me.

The Rides

Kevin’s ’04 Road Star, Keith’s ’07 Gold Wing, My ’00 Valkyrie, Uncle Ron’s ’97 Goldwing (that bike has sentimental value because it was Dad’s.  Uncle Ron bought it when it became apparent that dad wouldn’t be able to ride any more).

Typical central Indiana road
The bridge of Madison, IN
At the end of this bridge is Kentucky

I tried to get a picture of the “welcome to Kentucky” sign at the end of the bridge, but the camera glitched and I didn’t get it.

Nice Kentucky Road
Tennessee welcomes us
Dinnertime in Jellico TN.

We had a good day of riding.  Couple of sprinkles but nothing major until the downpour that hit shortly after we stopped at the hotel.  I’ll try to get today’s posts up soon…we’re heading for dinner in a bit, but I want to try to get caught up.  Teaser:  We rode the dragon today.  Check back for today’s adventure soon.

  1. Cool pics, Curt! Looks like a good time is being had by all.

Jellico, TN? Really? My FDIL's Dad and Stepmom live just outside Jellico (just across the KY line, but their mailing address is Jellico). I'll bet they'd have put you up at their place if you'd have just said you were going that way.

He's retired USAF, and would have fit right in with your crew.

Enjoying your trip along with you. Seriously. I've never done anything like this, so I'm kinda living vicariously here.

  2. So you are the reason I am wearing my Deals Gap long sleeve shirt today, 2010 edition… Some ride on the Dragon, huh?
