Has Hell Frozen Over? Are cats and dogs living together? Is it Armageddon?
The Washington Post has printed an article about guns, that ISN’T all about how evil they are and how blood will flow in the streets. It’s actually a very neutral look at the real American Gun Culture: the one that doesn’t involve protecting your “hood” or retaliating for being “dissed”.
This is the gun culture of the American West, and it is from here that the latest challenge to the District’s firearms laws has come. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) have proposed a law that they say would sweep away overly stringent regulations imposed by the D.C. Council after the Supreme Court struck down the city’s 32-year ban on handguns.
Versus just condemning the proposed law and the Senators who proposed it, they actually delve into the culture from which such proposals are born…and they do so in a very even-handed and factual way.
Color me impressed. Perhaps there’s hope for traditional Journalism yet.
