Hi Ho, Hi Ho…

I got some…um…interesting…news from work after my motorcycle trip.

After I got back to work, there was an e-mail waiting that my boss had sent the day I left.  It just said “Call me as soon as you can”.

I’d had my phone with me so I wondered why he hadn’t just called me.

When I finally got ahold of him, he told me that he hadn’t wanted to ruin my vacation.

My position is being terminated.  As of November 2, I will be unemployed.

I’m already investigating alternative employment.   Three months isn’t a long time to try to find a job in this environment.

Prayers/meditation/happy thoughts sent my way would be greatly appreciated.

The blogging level may be low as the stress level will be high for the foreseeable future.

  1. Sorry about that, Curt! Yeah, I'm looking for a job myself. Even though I've been self-employed for 20 years, it's harder to make it all the time.

  2. Sorry to hear that Curt. Can you give us a little info on what you do? I'm in Tidewater as well, maybe my employer has an opening in your field.

  3. My AAS is in Electronics. I was an Aviation Electronics Technician in the Navy and retired as a Chief Petty Officer (E-7).

I have a background in IT, management and Quality Assurance as well as electronics.

My current job is in IT as a customer support/training rep and data administrator for an online training database system.

That's about as much detail as I'm willing to go into here. Shoot me an e-mail and I'll send you a resume if it looks like there might be something for me there.

  4. Curt, sorry to hear about the loss of your job. That sucks. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Good luck with your job search.

  5. Sorry to hear that. All the contractors over there maybe you can go back to jets? Just a thought.

  6. Sorry, Curt. I got cut last November after being at the same company for 10 years. I've since started my own business. Long hours, uncertain cash streams, but at least I own my own success.

  7. May God be with you and give you strength in this trying time. Our prayers are with you my friend and I well know what you are going through. At least you still have the ability to work and your health. With your background, skills and attitude, I would hope that a job that will fill your needs will be very manageable task for you. If I can help in some way, please let me know.

  8. Dang it.. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. My Sister lost her job last week in a big layoff, so its going around. Keep your chin up and you'll swim out of it ok.

  9. Sorry to hear that, Curt. I hope you find something sooner than later. I might not be far behind you, so if I end up with a lot more time on my hands than usual, I'm going to head over your way for a beer or ten, my treat.

  10. Bummer Curt. Since I've been out of work since January, I can relate. Contract work for the .gov does not seem to be coming back anytime soon here in Utah. I've actually figured out my own business, starting up this weekend, to see if I can make a go of it. Cleaning and polishing car headlights on a mobile basis.

  11. I was a Telecom tech for a major medical provider. Other than some contract work lately, I have been out of work for over 2 years.

If anything, blog fast and furious. It helps. Not to mention, being out of a job lessens your tolerance for the anti-American BULL that covers everything the frauds in office are doing to us right now.

    Good luck and Godspeed.

  12. Deepest sympathy for your predicament. Been there and done that myself, and it sure isn't fun. Hope you find something quick.
