HA HA HA HA ha ha ha ha!

We have a new entry to make to the Journalists Guide to Firearms Identification:

The infamous 12-gauge “street sweeper” assault rifle.

The no-questions-asked program yielded more than 200 nonworking guns, 170 rifles, 219 handguns and even a 12-gauge “street sweeper” assault rifle.

That’s just funny right there.  I don’t care who you are.

I could be wrong, but I find it hard to believe that any cop could be firearms ignorant enough to make a statement like that in seriousness.

It’s possible that the “authorized journalists” just wrote the quote down wrong, or perhaps even made it up out of whole-cloth.  In my years of exposure to the media, diligence and integrity are two traits that have not stood out to me as being among their strong suits.

But I’m really beginning to wonder if the cops feed reporters these sorts of descriptions as a joke:  just to see if they’re ignorant and incompetent enough to put them into their stories without bothering to do the thirty seconds of research it would take to figure out that the statement is BS to the point of ridiculousness.

And “journalists” wonder why their industry is dying.

  1. Well…it figures. The buyback was in NY State. I thought that the homicide rate in *any* city or town in NY State was absolutely ZERO, because we all know that NY has the toughest gun laws in the nation, and there is absolutely NO WAY ON GODS GREEN EARTH that a criminal can get a gun because NY is so dang TOUGH on gun ownership…

    Damned morons….

  2. The cops probably feed the "journalists" bravo sierra for two purposes, the second, as stated above, to get a laugh, but more important, to keep those of us that care, busy writing editorials, letters etc, lighting fires under people who just don't care. Wastes everyone's time and exacerbates the adversarial relationship. Gotta keep the conflict and confusion going.

  3. Quote: Stetzko sold a shotgun that his brother gave him when he moved to Colorado last year.

“If I had thrown it in the garbage and someone had sawed it off, it could have been a lethal weapon,” he said.

make note of that folks, non-sawed off shotguns are not lethal….

    rolling eyes now…..
