How Convenient

When it’s a white person who robs, beats up or otherwise assaults a black person, it’s a “hate” crime.

but when this happens:

“They just said ‘Oh, white girl bleeds a lot,’ ” said Perry, 22, who was attacked at Kilbourn Reservoir Park over the Fourth of July weekend.
a mob they said beat and robbed them and threw full beer bottles while making racial taunts. The injured people were white; the attackers were African-American, witnesses said.

The narrative is:

…Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn noted Tuesday that crime is colorblind…

“We’re not going to let any group of individuals terrorize or bully any of our neighborhoods,” Flynn said.

I think thought-crime laws are a terrible idea from the get-go – crime is crime and assault is assault, what the perpetrator was thinking when the crime was committed is irrelevant.  All violent crimes should be treated equally…and harshly – but if those crimes are going to be on the books, then by law, custom and the US Constitution, they need to be enforced equally, regardless of the race creed or color of the perpetrators.

US Constitution, Amendment 14:

“No State shall…deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”
